October 11, 2025 Image On August 4, the Minnesota Humanities Center hosted a celebratory launch event for the re-release and expansion of Native American Lives, a middle-grade book series that highlights influential Native individuals from both past and present. Among the forthcoming titles are stories about modernist artist George Morrison ’43, a trailblazer in abstract expressionism and a proud Ojibwe man.Each title is authored by Native writers and illustrated by Native artists, continuing the project’s commitment to authentic representation. Cole Redhorse Taylor ’17, a citizen of the Prairie Island Indian Community, is one of two illustrators for the series’ book covers.
