MCAD Professor Erik Brandt Wins International Design Competition for Kiel Week 2026

The Minneapolis College of Art and Design is proud to share that Professor Erik Brandt, a longtime faculty member in Graphic Design, has been announced as the winner of the prestigious 2026 Kiel Week design competition—one of the most coveted honors in international visual communication.

Unveiled during a press conference in Kiel, Germany, Brandt’s winning design concept will serve as the official identity for Kiel Week 2026, the world’s largest sailing event. His bold, buoy-inspired artwork will appear across a global platform—on posters, flags, digital media, and official merchandise—bringing wide international visibility to both Brandt and MCAD.

In addition to the Kiel Week honor, Brandt is currently featured in Issue No. 9 of Plastikcomb Magazine, a widely respected international publication that includes a major feature on his work, with spreads designed by Brandt himself.

Brandt also serves as the International President of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), and is organizing his final AGI Congress later this year in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
