The Magical City: George Morrison’s New York celebrates the works of late MCAD alumni George Morrison ’43. His abstract works were often inspired by The Grand Portage Reservation's riverside in Minnesota, where he spent the majority of his life, before studying at the New York’s Art Student League. The exhibition will be on display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) until May 31, 2026.

George Morrison contributed massively to the Twin Cities public art scene, including the large wooden mural at the American Indian Center on Franklin Ave. The University of Minnesota also recently opened the George Morrison Center for Indigenous Arts in his memory.
