Explore 2D imagery and 3D objects while learning about wool felting techniques and tools. Course descriptionThe Teen Maker Series offers single session, 3-hour Friday evening workshops for teens ages 12–18, held on the third Friday of each month. Each session introduces a new art-making skill, giving students the chance to learn foundational techniques while experimenting, collaborating, and connecting with other young artists. Guided by professional instructors and using high-quality art materials, these short-format workshops provide a fun, low-barrier way to explore creativity, build confidence, and try something new.In this session of the series, explore the process of “painting” with wool. Dyed wool in a wide variety of hues can be mixed like paint when layered together. With sharp needles and a bit of friction, the wool bonds together and creates a painterly effect for imagery. Using felting needles, experiment with bonding fibers to form imagery in two dimensions, then apply the same techniques to create a small three-dimensional object. Learn foundational felting methods, gain insight into how these skills translate to larger-scale work, and create a finished wool artwork to take home.Open to students ages 12-18.
