Learn the basics of painting with gouache, a versatile opaque water based medium. Open to ages 16 and above. Course DescriptionGouache shares characteristics of watercolor, oil and acrylic paints, is highly pigmented, reworkable and dries quickly. The course includes demonstrations of fundamental techniques of working with gouache. While working with gouache, students learn traditional and non-traditional approaches to color theory, planar analysis, tessellation pattern, hand-painted illustration, still life, portraiture, and abstraction. Through an exploration of the medium of gouache and experimentation with a variety of styles and techniques, discover the richness of adding gouache to an artistic practice. Class time is spent on demonstrations, lectures, studio time, and critique. / Materials fee of $22 is included in course tuition.Open to students ages 16 and above.
