Introduction to Watercolor and Gouache for ages 15-18 (In Person)

Explore watercolor and gouache while learning techniques such as layering, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and washes.

Course description

Build confidence in watercolor and gouache techniques while learning to problem-solve, pivot, and let go of perfectionism. Projects include experimental abstraction, bold graphic patterns, textural studies, and combining watercolor and gouache in landscape compositions.

Along the way, learn foundational techniques in both watercolor and gouache, and explore artists from around the block to those around the world. / Materials fee of $9 is included in course tuition.

Open to students ages 15-18. Please review our complete Youth and Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.

Supplies

  • Pen or pencil
  • Notebook or sketchbook
  • Watercolors (variety of colors welcome, required: yellow, red, blue, black, white, black, brown)
  • Gouache (variety of colors welcome, required: yellow, red, blue, black, white, black, brown)
  • Watercolor paper pad, 9" x 12" or similar
  • Painter's Tape
  • Palette
  • Paintbrushes
  • Paper Towels/Rag
  • Watercup

Students should expect to spend up to approximately $75 on supplies in addition to tuition.

What to wear
Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.

Class savings

Register on or before January 19 and save $25.
Register for more than one class at a time and receive $25 off each additional class (same-day registrations only).
