Course descriptionIn this method, folded sections of paper are sewn directly onto the book’s covers using a distinctive chain-like stitch, creating an exposed spine that highlights the craftsmanship of the binding. Coptic stitch binding is a beginner-friendly and functional technique, ideal for sketchbooks and journals because it allows the book to lie completely flat when open. In this hands-on workshop explore a brief history of the technique, engage in discussion with fellow participants, and observe step-by-step demonstrations to create a handmade book. / Materials fee of $35 included in course tuition.Open to students ages 16 and above.
