Create characters, set designs, and stories while learning how to use a variety of materials, including clay, paper, and everyday objects to tell a story in stop-motion. Open to ages 9 to 12. Course descriptionLearn about different animation techniques, such as animated cell painting and background design. Use iPads and video editing software to produce animation shorts while exploring frame by frame techniques. Explore the history of animation, drawing inspiration from filmmaking and animation icons like Hayao Miyazaki, Lottie Reiniger, Tex Avery, Matt Groening, Tim Burton, and more. Take a mini-field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art to gain further animation inspiration, and meet a working animator to learn about their creative process. Family and friends are invited to enjoy the animations created by the students at a screening on Friday afternoon.Open to students ages 9 to 12.
