Studying here has pushed me to develop my process and technique further but also explore the correlation between subject mater, medium and materiality How has living and creating in Minneapolis influenced your work compared to your home country?Very much so. My subject matter is informed by architecture, infrastructure and culture - basically my surroundings / settings. The past year has been heavy with everything Minneapolis, Minnesota and midwest. Both inspiration and direct references.What unique perspectives do you feel you bring to the MFA program as an international artist?I bring a travelers perspective. I'm someone who has worked in politics and studied architecture. I believe these elements make my perspective somewhat unique.What challenges and rewards have you found in adapting to a new cultural environment while studying art?gaining a whole new perspective and being disciplined into adapting to a new placeWhat advice would you give to other international artists considering studying at MCAD?Have a plan early on because this school is very encouraging of exploration. This way you won't waste an opportunity. Also focus - it's a unique opportunity to be in art school. Being uninterrupted and focused will help you create the best of work.
