In an interview by London King ’22, Davis discusses their experience as a Continuing Education student.

Can you share your experience with taking advantage of MCAD's Continuing Education tuition benefit as a staff member? How has it enriched your professional and personal life?

I have loved taking Continuing Education courses at MCAD! As someone who works with both staff and faculty, these courses give me the opportunity to connect with MCAD employees in person. Through the courses I’ve taken, I’ve gained a better understanding of MCAD as a teaching institution since I am interacting with the community, students, and faculty firsthand. I definitely feel more connected to MCAD since taking these courses and look forward to the next semester’s classes!

Personally, these courses have given me the chance to explore mediums and methods of art making that I otherwise would not have been able to. My role in HR allows me to interact with artists all the time, which I love, but these courses let me take part in the art making process alongside other members of the community.

As someone who has taken Continuing Education classes, what would you say to someone who's considering enrolling in a CE course at MCAD? What's the most valuable takeaway you've had from these classes?

I would encourage everyone to take a CE class at MCAD! These courses have been a place of exploration with little pressure, and I have loved experiencing the many different teaching styles from different professors. The most valuable takeaway I’ve had is that there is always room for growth, regardless of if making art is new to you or something you’ve done for a long time.
