Rose Moroney, an Alumni student in the Master of Arts in Sustainable Design (MASD) program, took some time out of her schedule to talk with me about life after graduation.When did you graduate from the MASD program in Sustainable Design?May 2026How has the MASD program changed your perspectives?The MASD program sharpened my systems-thinking skills and fundamentally changed the way I approach complex challenges. It provided me with practical tools, frameworks, and a deeper understanding of how interconnected systems influence outcomes. I now feel better equipped to look beyond surface-level symptoms, identify root causes, and approach sustainability challenges from a more holistic perspective.How has the MASD program made an impact in your life and/or work? The MASD program has opened doors to new professional opportunities and career growth. Since completing the program, I have advanced into a Director of Sustainability role, allowing me to apply what I learned in a meaningful way and contribute to sustainability at a broader organizational level. The program gave me both the knowledge and confidence to pursue opportunities that aligned with my passion and professional goals.Any advice for students who are considering the MASD program at MCAD?You will never regret investing in your education. The MASD program will challenge you, push you outside of your comfort zone, and encourage you to think differently about the complex issues facing our world. More importantly, it gives you the language, tools, and frameworks to turn your passion for sustainability into meaningful action.
