"Creating Watercolor Pigment from Food Waste"

Two alumni of MCAD’s MA in Sustainable Design program are bringing creativity and sustainability together at a hands-on workshop, Creating Watercolor Pigments from Food Waste.

Hosted by Veronica Mangio ’24, MA of Gifting Grove and led by artist Lara Cornell ’24, MA, the event invites attendees to enjoy a spread from sustainable caterer Chowgirls, then turn kitchen scraps from the meal prep into watercolor pigments. Participants will learn to make their own natural paints and explore the broader philosophy of the gift economy—a system that values intention, gratitude, and sustainability.
