Source to Sea Wins Best in Fest at MSPIFF

The documentary Source to Sea: Winter Migration by Maribeth Romslo, a Master of Arts in Graphic and Web Design student at MCAD, premiered at MSPIFF this spring, and was secluded Best In Fest. Directed by Romslo and Cory Maria Dack, the documentary follows Dack, an indigenous Latina tour guide, as she paddles through the length of the Mississippi River.

The film focuses on wilderness exploration from a decolonized lens, and the reciprocal relationships between humans and the earth. As described by the directors “Born in Quito, Ecuador and raised in northern Minnesota, Cory approaches the river not as something to be conquered, but as a living, relational being.”
