Russell Contributes to What Punk Taught me

Alumni Samantha Russell ’17 is a contributor to the recently published book What Punk Taught Me. Edited by Gregory Blair and Jason Swift, Russell’s chapter Punk Art: A Culture of Concepts covers their experience with the punk creative subculture.

The anthology is a collection of 15 different authors' essays, each of whom punk culture has deeply impacted them in a meaningful way. What Punk Taught Me explores each contributor's unique connection with punk, whether it be through music, DIY projects, fashion, art, activism, and writing. Russell was also selected as the 2025 David Barr Artist in Residence at the Michigan Legacy Art Park in Thompsonville, Michigan.
