Ute Bertog ’05 brings a new solo exhibition to Rosalux Gallery titled In Other Words. As Bertog explains “The exhibition will showcase [my] characteristically vibrant abstract paintings alongside new ceramic objects and text-based projects to explore the tenuous relationship between abstraction and language.”

“[I am] particularly interested in abstraction as a language, or more to the point a foreign language, defined by its non-representational nature, where instead of immediate comprehension there is not-knowing and uncertainty, awkward silences and mumbling along. How then do we bridge the divide and renegotiate meaning without a map for guidance?”
