Wayne Ensurd ’56

Anthony Haden-Guest wrote his thoughts on The Open Eye, an exhibition by the late Wayne Ensurd ’56. His paintings span the wide breadth of his artistic career, and from his start at MCAD.

Haden-Guest notes the early influences of Oskar Kokoshka, who was a guest speaker at MCAD, and his influence on Ensurd’s work. Ensurd went on to not only continue making paintings, but stayed in dialogue with Kokoshka and wrote two books about their process, The Kokoschka Influence and The Kokoschka Legacy.
