March 03, 2026 Image Namir Fearce Namir Fearce was interviewed about his work for the MCAD-Jerome Fellowship Exhibition in the Sahan Journal. Fearce’s work creates a black queer sanctuary, combining attributes from the church and ballroom culture. He told the journal, “both are spaces of elevated experience but one is regarded as holy and sanctified, while the other is salacious and sacreligious. I truly understood them and saw the throughlines and parallels being a participant in both spaces.” The work is equally as fluid as his concept, combining sculpture, audio, and projection to create a unique portrayal of black queerness. As he explains, “The Jerome Fellowship really gave me the time and space to think about what it is that I want to contribute to my practice and what it is that I want to contribute to the world.”2024/25 MCAD-Jerome Fellowship ExhibitionMCAD Main Gallery (Minneapolis, MN)January 16 –March 7, 2026Learn moreNorth Minneapolis artist Namir Fearce builds a Black, queer sanctuary at MCAD(sahanjournal.com—Februrary 27, 2026)2024/2025 MCAD Jerome Fellowship Exhibition(mcad.edu)
