The Minneapolis College of Art and Design’s exhibition Peter Williams: Homegoing–A Call and Response closed earlier this month after a celebrated run that drew significant attention from both local audiences and the wider arts community—including a feature in the Star Tribune.

The show, which honored the late artist Peter Williams ’75, brought together Williams’ own powerful, socially charged paintings with works by fellow Black artists from across Minnesota. Curated by Keisha Williams, MCAD Gallery Director, the exhibition explored themes of history, liberation, and resilience through the lens of the African American “homegoing” tradition—a celebratory memorial of life and legacy.
