Shoreham Yards Florilegium: Reading & Artist Talk

Faculty members from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design—Leslie Grant, Gudrun Lock, Kathryn Savage, and Elisabeth Workman—will present Shoreham Yards Florilegium: Reading & Artist Talk on November 2 at the Minneapolis Central Library.

Grant, Lock, Savage, and Workman will share work that blends photography, archival research, poetry, and prose. The talk centers on Shoreham Yards, a freight yard in Northeast Minneapolis, using it as a lens to examine global infrastructure, transient spaces, and embodied experience.

The event will also highlight the Shoreham Repository, a living archive held in the library’s Special Collections. Attendees are invited to engage with both the archive and the artists in a conversation about place, memory, and artistic process.

Taking inspiration from the florilegium, a historical method of collecting and contemplating fragments, this interdisciplinary presentation invites the public to explore the intersections of art, ecology, and the overlooked spaces of urban life.
