"Inner Structures---Outer Rhythms" exhibition

A vibrant exhibition of graphic design originally curated by the Minneapolis College of Art and Design has found a new home at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto.

Inner Structures — Outer Rhythms showcases concert posters, typefaces, and typographic art from designers across the Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) region. The show celebrates graphic design not only as a tool for communication but also as a deeply expressive and culturally resonant art form. The exhibition highlights the fusion of traditional influences—like Arabic calligraphy, music, and poetry—with modern aesthetics and digital techniques.

“Graphic [design] is for everybody,” said Pourvash, the Toronto exhibition’s curator. “No matter who you are, what you do, what's your profession, if you even like art or not, [it] is out there [for] you.”
