Leslie Barlow ’16, MFA, has combined her love of fine art and cosplay in her new series, Us, Becoming. She has incorporated her passion for sewing into her art practice for the past decade, often stitching scraps of fabric into her paintings. This series, however, centers on her and her friend’s cosplay as the main subject.

The first few paintings were on view at Confluence, an artistic fandom space for Black, Indigenous, and people of color, on October 18 and 19. Barlow worked as a major organizer for the event this year, striving to create an inclusive and safe space for BIPOC artists.
