Joyce Reese ’50 still creates a plethora of art following her retirement from the Journal. Her body of work earned her the Minnesota Newspaper Association Best Advertising Campaign Award in 1985 and the title of one of the most prolific advertisement artists in Minnesota.

Her retrospective with the Journal reflected on her early artistic childhood, revealing that she had been designing and making her own clothes since the age of 13. She also shares how she never remarried following her husband’s passing in 2002. Though he hadn’t started playing until after they met, she admired Keith Reese’s musical talent. This talent followed him after his passing, earning him a spot in the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 2010.
