Steven Vander Meer ’85

MCAD alumni Steven Vander Meer ’85 screened his latest animated film Hunky Dory at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC on August 3, 2025. He was the 2025 winner of the Edison Innovation Award from the Thomas Edison Film Festival.

Hunky Dory is the latest of his whimsical surreal traditional animations, which he draws on 3X5 in index cards. As described on his website, “When we are in harmony with the beauty of nature, and the moon is as round as a banjo, that's when you know everything is hunky dory.”
