Gianni Rettena's MCAD Installation Reimagined in Florence

Gianni Pettena’s installation Paper/Cosmic Breeze exhibits at the MOTEL Spaces under the patronage of the city of Florence, following its appearance in Milan Art Week and Milan Design Week 2026. The installation originally debuted at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design as a part of Pettena’s artist in residence program under the title Paper/Midwestern Ocean.

The work, being made of long strips of paper hanging from the ceiling to the floor, hinges on audience participation, who are encouraged to cut and navigate through the paper. Additional lighting done by the Specific Collective adds an additional layer of play between these elements.
