Faculty and Alumni Jacob Yeates Presents "what do you grow?" at Mirror Lab Gallery

Jacob Yeates ’17, MFA recently presented what do you grow? at Mirror Lab. Created with support from a 2025 Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, the exhibition features a new body of drawings and collages reflecting on the violent ideologies and state-sanctioned responses surrounding ongoing climate change and ecological collapse.

Through extensive drawing and collage processes, Yeates considers how to hold two truths simultaneously: that the world has experienced catastrophe before, and that the world cannot continue to exist as it currently does. Responding to an era marked by increasingly routine “unprecedented” events and enduring systems of extraction and violence, the work offers a space for reflection on uncertainty, history, and transformation.
