February 21, 2026 Image Sarah Evenson ’16 A new print project created by Sarah Evenson ’16 aimed at connecting queer communities across distances is gaining momentum after its first nationwide and international mailing.The project, GAY MAIL FRIEND, is a zine-by-mail subscription featuring work by Evenson and other gay artists from the Twin Cities. Designed to be both financially accessible and reachable to people outside major urban centers, the project connects gay, queer, and trans subscribers through physical mail and independent print art.The first mailing shipped in January, reaching readers in eighteen U.S. states from Oregon to Maine, as well as Washington, D.C., five Canadian provinces, and nine additional countries including Germany, Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom.Evenson began developing GAY MAIL FRIEND during her time as a McKnight Fellow at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.Learn MoreGAY MAIL FRIEND’s Patreon(patreon.com) Explore more about Sarah Evenson
