Christopher Selleck ’16, MFA

Christopher Selleck ’16, MFA was awarded the 2026 McKnight Book Arts Fellowship through the Minnesota Center for Book Arts. As an artist and photographer, Selleck’s photobooks draw from 1900–1960’s post cards of semi-nude muscular men.

His work centers themes of queer masculinity and body image as a result of growing up in the Post-AIDS Pre-Internet world. As Selleck explains, “Within gay culture, the proffered idealized body invited body dysmorphia. While printed materials disseminated alternative queer ideology and desire, these conveyed only idealized body images. Understanding what it means to be man, and a gay man inside of that space, has been crucial to my work.”
