Catherine Johnson ’80

Catherine Johnson ’80 was interviewed about her extensive art career and current project by Minnesota Women’s Press. Having lived in a hospital full time up until the age of three due to a congenital hip dysplasia, her art is heavily influenced by her childhood observations from her hospital bed.

Johnson’s art is also based around community and togetherness, her previous series being paper cut out flowers in the colors of the Ukrainian flag which she sold prints of to raise funds for Ukrainian relief efforts. Her current project is a series of paper cut-outs of daisies in the Columbia Heights School district colors, one of many schools affected by the Metro ICE Surge, which she plans to distribute to students.
