Avery Johnson Finalist in AXA Art Prize Competition.

MCAD student Avery Hallberg Johnson was selected as one of 40 finalists out of 600 applicants for the 2025 AXA Art Prize Competition. The annual competition is open to students who create any style of figurative paintings, drawings, or printmaking.

MCAD is also a member of AXA’s Regional Advisory Board, and faculty member Howard Quednau will be participating as a Regional Juror. Johnson’s work, along with the other finalists, will be displayed at the New York Academy of Art this November. They will also be eligible for a first place prize of $10,000, and a second place prize of $5,000.
