Art Center of Estes Park Welcomes New Artists, Featuring Stephen Goddard

The Art Center of Estes Park is welcoming four new artists this month in its current exhibit, Meet the New Artists, with a standout focus on MCAD alum Stephen Goddard.

The works featured in the exhibition include original etchings and woodcuts created over the past several years, many of them inspired by the remains of trees found in Rocky Mountain National Park. Goddard describes these images as “elegiac,” revealing the complex biological structures of trees as they slowly return to the earth. While his etchings often carry a quiet, contemplative tone, his woodcuts lean more whimsical and playful, all sharing a deep engagement with the intersection of human and natural worlds.

Through both analog photography and traditional printmaking techniques, Goddard hopes his work serves as a visual reminder of humanity’s fragile and often disruptive relationship with nature while still conveying a profound love for it.
