Amelia Biewald ’99, MFA unveiled Swans and Horses, a solo exhibition of new work at Rosalux Gallery.

Biewald’s latest body of work fuses dynamic equine imagery with the raw energy of extreme weather, exploring themes of environmental urgency and mythological transformation. Her dimensional paintings and mixed media pieces reflect the chaos and beauty of nature, while invoking historical narratives such as the myth of Leda and the Swan—reimagined through the lens of turbulence, power, and vulnerability.

Recently awarded a 2024 Puffin Foundation Grant, Biewald continues to use her art to examine the intersection of climate, history, and human impact. Her striking works, including Cumulonimbus I, Cumulonimbus II, and Old Dutch, combine watercolor, acrylic, carved wood, silicone, and found materials to create immersive visual experiences.
