Alumni Join Master Students in Master of Graphic and Web Design Town Hall

A panel of alumni, Austin Gullixson ’20, MA, Sara Richardson’ 19, MA, and Sydni Rose ’24, MA, joined a recent Master of Arts in Graphic and Web Design (MAGWD) town hall. They had a conversation with current grad students how they felt the program prepared them for their career, and what it means to connect with folks within the graphic design world.

Richardson credits the MAGWD program for helping her go from “no design experience to employed.” Similarly, Rose had no design experience prior to program, having majored in journalism at the University of Minnesota—however, she was hired by Tempo less than a month after graduation. Gullixson, who had several years of graphic design experience, felt like the masters program gave him the ability to approach his practice with a fresh perspective and new tools.

They all emphasized the importance of connections and discussed how “connections of connections” has led to ongoing opportunities.
