PDF of Press Release March 2022 – Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) announces that the 9th annual Auction at MCAD will take place Friday, May 20, 7–10 p.m. featuring a diverse group of 50 artists that includes Julie Buffalohead, Willie Cole, Shelly Mosman, and Alec Soth. A vital event that has raised more than $1.5 million for MCAD scholarships, the Auction directly benefits student artists and designers on their paths toward graduating. The Auction will also take place online May 20–23, where the public can bid from their own home. The Auction at MCAD is an opportunity for the creative Twin Cities community to gather, celebrate, and engage with both emerging and established artists— all in support of MCAD scholarships. Taking place on the MCAD Lawn and in the Gallery, this year’s Auction will feature: Live music by DJ Tricky Miki Art installation by Aaron Dysart and Sam Larom ’19 Live figure drawing and demonstration by MCAD MFA students, organized by Continuing Education Live Auction for exclusive items such as dinner by celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern Open bar by Bacardi Local bites by Nixta Tortilleria, Saturday Dumpling Club, and Vinai Because of the generosity of Auction attendees, hundreds of students will have greater access to scholarships, ensuring that the creative changemakers of tomorrow can receive a world-class education.
