October 09, 2026 Image What surprised you the most about the Pre-College Summer Session?I think the amount of freedom we had is what surprised me the most. You could really do anything with your free time, which is something I enjoyed about PCSS since it really helped me learn a lot about myself.What aspect of the program had the biggest impact on you?Being away from home and having my own dorm definitely had the biggest impact on me. I think it really helped me find my independence, and what it will be like once I go to college.How has your artistic practice changed from being a part of the program?I have definitely become way more confident with how I approach my work. Being in a healthy environment for critique definitely decreased any insecurities I had with my art at the start of the program.What was your favorite experience outside of the classroom?Probably relaxing in the studio with my friends or playing pool after lunch.What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about coming to the Pre-College Summer Session at MCAD?If you're not sure about whether you want to go to art college or you're just worried about being away from home, PCSS is definitely the best way to prepare. PCSS makes your decisions for after high school way easier, so I honestly can’t recommend it enough. If you do end up going, make sure you have fun and get good rest!
