This five-week workshop explores the medium of analog filmmaking in the tradition of the experimental and avant-garde. Focus is placed on the physicality of the film stock, the basic mechanics of the camera and projector, and how these elements translate into a visual language and aesthetic. This workshop balances the technical, conceptual, and historical aspects of small-gauge or amateur analog filmmaking and addresses what it means to work in this medium at the beginning of the 21st century.
