Katya Oicherman is an Minneapolis-based artist, educator, and researcher specialising in textile design and history. She studied textile design and art in Israel and the UK. Her practice-based PhD (Goldsmiths, London) addressed Jewish ceremonial textiles and their relevance in contemporary art practice. Oicherman worked in the textile industry as woven upholstery designer. She works with a variety of media, including weaving, embroidery, video, and installation. She has exhibited her work internationally and taught textile design, theory, and history and has also served as head of the department of Textile Design (Shenkar College, Israel).
