Lindsay Rhyner: Home Comforts

On view August 22–October 31, 2026 in MCAD's Window Box Gallery

The work featured in the MCAD's Window Box Gallery consists of Rhyner's most recent works, a large double-sided fabric piece and a series of reconstructed lamps made from mostly found and unconventional materials. The textile work is Rhyner's first attempt at creating a two-sided work with clear plastic windows that the viewer can look through from either side. This is a preview of more works currently in production for her upcoming exhibition at Hair and Nails Gallery, Minneapolis, in April 2027. The Lamp Store installation was inspired by the long dark days of winter, and her many trips to lamp stores and the lighting sections of big box stores like Menards and Home Depot to surround herself with bright lights in the darkest days of winter.

About the Window Box Gallery

The Window Box Gallery is an experimental space to showcase Minnesota-based emerging artists. Playing off of MCAD’s iconic architecture, the window gallery engages our wider community and neighbors by bringing thought-provoking art to our outdoor space.

The Window Box Gallery is an all-weather outdoor display located in the westernmost window of MCAD’s main entrance. This space is meant to be viewed from the outside and is open to the public.
