MCAD Summer Zine Fest: Saturday, July 16, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., MCAD East Lawn, free and open to the public

This exhibition will feature a wide variety of topics and formats by 40 artists, including the recent winners of the MCAD Collegiate Fellowship, which gives senior and graduate level students at MCAD the opportunity to complete an advanced project in book arts with a project stipend and access to studios at the Minneapolis Center for Book Arts (MCBA). Other participants include members of the student-run MCAD Comic Club and invited alums from around the country.

In the MCAD Sculpture Garden, the college is also debuting this summer a Zine Shanty that will house zines for the general public to read and take. Imagined, designed, and constructed by faculty member Natasha Pestich, groups of print paper and book students, and the MCAD 3D Shop, the colorful shanty is envisioned to be a space for ongoing creative exchange.

The closing date for Drawn, Inked, Printed & Bound corresponds with the second day of the Autoptic Festival, which will be held at MCAD on Sunday, August 14. In addition, an MCAD Zine Fest, organized by the MCAD Comics Club, will take place on Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where visitors can purchase original zines by more than two dozen artists.
