Holly Streekstra is a conceptual artist whose work raises questions about our relationship to wonder, our desire for mystery and enchantment, and the ways we choose to suspend disbelief. Rooted in site and history, her practice spans performance, film, sculpture, and encaustic collage, engaging existential concerns through facts and fictions alike. Streekstra has taught at the college level since 2004 and encourages students to investigate ideas deeply and experiment boldly with materials and process. She holds an MFA in Sculpture from Louisiana State University and has exhibited nationally and internationally. Streekstra was a 2016 Jerome Foundation Emerging Artist Fellow and a 2013 Fulbright Teaching Scholar in Hungary.
