Since 2018 Rita has worked for various design agencies which have led her to develop marketing skills and strategies for retail design. Through my work, I aim to educate, spark reflection, and motivate others to be part of the change (because I truly believe we all have the power to be agents of change).How do you network yourself and your art?I can say that, today, my work is meaningful and aligns with my personal values. Earth is at the center of everything I do and what I try to reflect through my work. ¿What was your experience in the online program being an international student?My experience was deeply rewarding. I was able to continue working while studying at the same time. I also had the opportunity to collaborate with other students and participate in discussion forums to learn from them. I felt supported by the instructors at all times. It’s a privilege to learn from the best in sustainability and to contribute new ideas to my country and community.Where did you earn your undergraduate degree, and what was it in?At Rafael Landívar University in Guatemala City, it is a BA in Graphic Design.How did you hear about MCAD?I searched for sustainable design masters on Google and MCAD came up in my search.Why did you choose to earn an MA at MCAD?I really liked what I saw on the page and also in the introductory session. MCAD aligns with my vision and values.What was your biggest takeaway from the program?That sustainability is something achievable through a collective effort with individual actions. The Earth is our home, and we are the managers of our home's resources. Where were you located when you completed the program?Guatemala CityWhat was the online education like?Perfect and suitable for my work schedule.How has the MA impacted your career/your life?Taking this course was mind-shifting and that's what I liked the most. I was looking to align my personal sustainable habits with my professional career and that is exactly what I achieved.How do you incorporate sustainability into your everyday life? What advice do you have for others to do the same?In my daily life, I make simple and conscious decisions. I ask myself a series of questions, I try to reduce my consumption, and support brands that care about the planet.What would you tell students considering pursuing an MA degree in Sustainable Design?Do it! you won't regret it. Understanding how Earth works is some of the most valuable knowledge you can gain. It helps you better understand yourself and everything around you.
