The Secrets of Watercolor for Beginners (In Person)

Learn the fundamentals of how to control watercolor through a step-by-process, building from simple to complex renderings and easy to difficult compositions. Open to ages 16 and above.

Course description

For centuries artists have demonstrated that watercolor techniques give students a deeper understanding when working with oil or acrylic paints. Learn the essential skills needed to gain a full understanding of watercolor painting, including color theory, brushwork, and how to transfer an image for painting. Throughout the class, gain experience and use mistakes as the basis of learning. Class time is spent on demonstrations, lecture, studio time, and critique. / Materials fee of $23 is included in course tuition.

Open to students ages 16 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.

  • brushes (Round 0, 4, 28; Flat 1”)
  • Arches cold press watercolor Pad 9” x 12”
  • watercolor palette
  • eraser

Students should expect to spend up to approximately $100-$150 for supplies in addition to tuition. It is not required to purchase new materials if similar materials are on hand.
