Programming for the Web (Online)

This course introduces the fundamentals of programming using the language of the web, JavaScript.

Course description

Students explore topics through a variety of projects, including creating interactive web components and building a simple web application. The course progresses towards a student-selected final programming project. Topics include program and data structures, objects and arrays, functions, bugs and error handling, the Document Object Model (DOM), event handling, drawing using HTML5 canvas, data fetching, and using common libraries and tools. / This course is part of the Master of Arts in Graphic and Web Design and is a graduate level course. / Please note that this course does not qualify for the $25 alumni tuition rate.

Class meeting details

This course includes a weekly synchronous meeting using Google Meet every Tuesday from 7:00-8:30 p.m. CST. The course is project-based, with 2 to 3 deadlines per week. Asynchronous course activities may include readings, video demonstrations and tutorials, online discussions, projects, and critiques.
