Pre-College Studio Intensive: Filmmaking for Ages 15-18 (In Person)

Discover the history of early films to movie-making today and create a short film from start to finish. Open to ages 15 to 18.

Course description

Learn and practice preproduction, directing, cinematography, lighting and editing through hands-on experiential learning with creativity and collaboration. Finish the class with a completed digital short film that brings together the visual story techniques learned throughout the course. / This computer-based class is held in an MCAD computer lab and students will have access to Adobe Creative Cloud software during class.

Open to students ages 15 to 18. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2026. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.

This course meets in person on MCAD's campus.

Prerequisites

Previous experience with Adobe Premiere is helpful, but not required.

Supplies for the first class

  • pen or pencil
  • notebook or sketchbook
  • USB drive or cloud storage option for saving work.

What to wear
Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
