People are drawn to watercolors due to their vibrant, delicate, and luminous qualities. Learn traditional and non-traditional approaches to watercolor painting. Course descriptionFor centuries artists have demonstrated that watercolor techniques give students a deeper understanding when working with oil or acrylic paints. Students learn essential skills needed to gain a full understanding of watercolor painting, including control and familiarity with the medium, how to transfer an existing drawing onto the base for a painting and how to execute washes and blends. Traditional techniques such as wet on wet, wet on dry, and dry brush are demonstrated, as well as experimental techniques. Class time is spent on demonstrations, lecture, studio time, and critique.Open to students ages 18 and above.
