Faculty Title Instructor Degree Chelsea Novotny is a Minneapolis-based artist and educator whose work celebrates the natural world. She creates watercolor paintings, whimsical portraits of cats in sweaters, and delicate pressed botanical collages. She explores the texture, rhythm, and imprint that nature has on our lives. Her practice reflects a curiosity about the ways art can connect us to ourselves, to the world around us, and to the present moment.For Chelsea, art is movement, observation, and reflection. Through her work, she investigates the intersections of life, body, and nature, encouraging a deeper engagement with the environment and our experiences within it.As an educator, Chelsea fosters a welcoming, empowering, and inclusive space for all students. She approaches teaching through an asset-based lens, recognizing and honoring the unique strengths every student brings. Her goal is to inspire creativity, confidence, and curiosity, regardless of background, culture, race, identity, or ability.Chelsea has collaborated with organizations such as Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Silverwood Park, Eagan Art House, and several schools and artists across the Twin Cities. She is also a high school painting, graphic design, and AP 2D Art and Design teacher, bringing her experience as an educator into every aspect of her work.
