Introduction to Visual Effects (In Person)

Learn the ins and outs of Adobe After Effects and build essential skills through a VFX-focused approach. Open to students ages 16 and above.

Course description

Visual effects, or VFX, are the art of digital illusion, allowing a creator to move beyond what’s physically in front of the camera. This course explores the foundational principles of VFX and how to put them into practice.

Various topics will be explored, including filming green screen and chroma keying, rotoscoping, motion tracking, screen replacement, and compositing techniques. By the end of the class, learn the core skills and confidence to start creating unique and distinctive visual effects projects. / This computer-based class is held in an MCAD computer lab and students will have access to Adobe Creative Cloud software throughout the course.

Open to students ages 16 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.

This course meets in person on MCAD’s campus.

Prerequisites

Previous experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is required. Students should have a working knowledge of Premiere Pro (basic editing and file export) and basic Photoshop skills.

  • USB drive or cloud storage option for saving work

Software
Adobe Creative Cloud (provided by MCAD)

Hardware
If students access Adobe Creative Cloud at home, a computer capable of running Adobe Creative Cloud software, with internet access is required.
