Introduction to Video Game Design for Ages 15–18 (In Person)

Bring characters and worlds to life and incorporate original artwork into a playable video game. Open to ages 15 to 18.

Course description

Create an original video game using accessible, free game engines through Unity. Learn fundamentals of game design, character design, and software development, as well as video game mechanics and asset management. After developing concepts and characters and turning them into a new game, play test the final product with friends! / This computer-based class is held in an MCAD computer lab and students will have access to Adobe Creative Cloud and Unity software during class.

Open to students ages 15 to 18. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2026. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.

Supplies for the first class

  • pen or pencil
  • notebook or sketchbook
  • USB drive or cloud storage option for saving work.

What to wear
Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
