Introduction to Stop-Motion Animation for Ages 12-15 (In Person)

Learn the basics of stop-motion animation, covering frame by frame techniques and basic concepts of this traditional and very hands-on style of animation. Open to ages 12 to 15.

Course description

This class provides an eye opening experience into a classic technique. Learn the fundamentals of stop-motion animation, including frame rate and basic principles, while examining behind-the-scenes videos of professional stop-motion work. Create animations using a variety of materials, such as paper, modeling clay, and armature wire, to tell a story. Plan and produce small-group animation projects, from creating character designs to filming, editing, and adding sound. Family and friends are invited to enjoy the final animations at a Friday afternoon screening. / Material fee of $10 included in course tuition.

Open to students ages 12 to 15. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2026. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.
