Decorative Illustration (Online)

Course Description

Work on a wide variety of ways to exercise a range of visual problem solving for potential projects such as illustrated package designs, event promotion, or items for the gift market. Explore creativity through traditional, digital or mixed-media techniques. Professional based topics are points of discussion throughout the course. / Students will have access to Adobe Creative Cloud software throughout the class.

Open to students ages 16 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.

Class meeting details

This online class is synchronous. Students will meet online using Google Meet for lectures, demonstrations, class discussions, exercises, time to ask questions and share resources, and work time. The instructor will have virtual office hours for one hour before each class session to answer questions and provide individualized feedback and guidance.

Prerequisites

Previous drawing and painting experience is helpful, but not required. Previous experience with Adobe Photoshop is helpful, but not required.

Required Supplies

Supplies

• pen or pencil
• notebook or sketchbook
• color media of choice with a selection of drawing tools

Supplies will be discussed during the first class meeting.

Software
Adobe Creative Cloud software (provided by MCAD).

Hardware
A computer capable of running Adobe Creative Cloud software, with internet access, a camera, and microphone for class meetings and to capture and upload work; a scanner (optional).

This class uses Adobe Creative Cloud and Canvas, MCAD’s learning management system. Please see the link for more information.

Register on or before August 11 and save $25.
