Learn how to create, share, and test an app prototype while learning the basics of Figma, a versatile cloud-based prototyping software that offers the opportunity to explore web and mobile apps, graphic, and UI/UX design in a collaborative and user-friendly environment. Course descriptionExplore key design and prototyping principles, including color, spacing, and typography, while gaining hands-on experience building interactive prototypes. Prototyping in design is an essential step and provides an opportunity to gain feedback from users in order to assess how user-friendly the design is.Begin by researching and ideating in order to develop an app concept. Create small app prototypes to view and share on multiple devices. Play with interactive animations and collaborate with fellow students using FigJam, an online collaborative whiteboard. Lessons and exercises throughout the course will build towards the completion of a mini app prototype.Open to students ages 18 and above. Students meet online for synchronous class meetings on Thursdays from 7:00–8:00 p.m. CST using Google Meet for demonstrations, discussions, exercises, and opportunities for students to ask questions and share resources. Asynchronous activities may include readings, video demonstrations and tutorials, online discussions, projects, and critiques.
